SCMA/Forrest S. Mosten Conflict Resolution Libraries
a project of the
SCMA Education Fund
a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation, tax-exempt pursuant to
Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3)

SCMA has established the SCMA Education Fund (the Fund) as a California non-profit corporation for the general purpose of promoting education about, and encouraging the use of, mediation and other methods of conflict resolution to resolve disputes. The Fund’s mission includes raising funds to establish SCMA/Forrest S. Mosten Conflict Resolution Libraries throughout Southern California. The Fund will raise money to fund its efforts by seeking contributions from individuals and organizations.

The SCMA/Forrest S. Mosten Conflict Resolution Libraries Project (the Library Project) both honors, and is the vision of, Forrest S. (Woody) Mosten, the 1999 SCMA Cloke-Millen Peacemaker of the Year and the 2006 SCMA Randall Lowry Lecturer. Forrest S. Mosten The Library Project’s purpose is to provide initial funding for libraries, community mediation centers, and other non-profit organizations to establish mediation libraries to serve the public throughout Southern California. These libraries will house consumer friendly books, videos, and computer learning modules for people who are interested in learning about and using mediation, negotiation, and other peacemaking alternatives to resolve conflict in their personal lives and in their communities.

Each non-profit organization applying for SCMA funding will determine how the Project can best support mediation and meet the needs of its particular clientele. Institutions interested in establishing a mediation library as part of this Project may apply to the Fund for a grant pursuant to the Fund’s Grantmaking Procedures.[Grantmaking Procedures]. [Grant Application] Applications will be evaluated and grants will be awarded by the SCMA Education Fund Board of Directors.

Grants have already been made to the Western Justice Center Foundation, UC Riverside, California State University at Dominguez Hills, and the Sunday Free Legal Clinic at First AME Church of Los Angeles.

The Project will be funded completely by tax-deductible donations, which will be allocated specifically to this Project rather than to the general operations of SCMA. A special dedicated checking account for the Project has been opened to receive donations. Click on the link to open a form to use to send in your contribution.[Donation Form]

Donations may be sent to: SCMA Education Fund, 1430 South Grand Avenue # 256, Glendora, CA 91740.
