30th Annual SCMA Conference 2018

November 2 - November 3

We are excited to announce and invite proposals for SCMA’s 30th Anniversary – 2018 Annual Conference, taking place on November 2-3, 2018 at the The L.A. Grand Hotel Downtown in Los Angeles.

Our conference theme is “Striving for Excellence: The Emergence of the Modern Mediator.”  Our honorees include Avis Ridley-Thomas, who will receive the Cloke-Millen Award, and Professor Lisa Klerman, who will receive the Randolph Lowry Award.  Both women have distinguished themselves in the mediation field and have been leaders in developing programs and opportunities for mediators throughout Southern California (or have been ambassadors and staunch advocates for our profession.)

Consistent with our conference theme,“Striving for Excellence: The Emergence of the Modern Mediator,” we look forward to offering a diversity of workshops and programming that provide the latest and most cutting-edge thinking on how we can continue to grow and develop as professional mediators.  It is our hope that you leave the conference with practical knowledge, tools, and resources for continuing to grow as a professional mediator. We also will offer full MCLE credits, and will offer workshops and programming that focus on different forums, career opportunities, and emerging markets for mediators.

We also are excited to welcome the American Arbitration Association (AAA) as our partner for the Conference Advanced Track. Led by Harold Coleman, Jr., Esq., Senior Vice President, Mediator/Executive Director of AAAMediation.org, and Neil Carmichael, the Vice President of Education & Training for the AAA and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the AAA promises to present a full day of Advanced Track topics that will be relevant for this day and time, thought-provoking, interactive, and engaging.  Click here to learn more about the Advanced Track topics and schedule.

We look forward to seeing you at our 30th Anniversary Annual Conference.  It promises to be a rewarding event!

All community events are shown on the calendar in blue, while all events that are for SCMA members only are shown on the calendar in yellow. This lets people see at a glance what type of event they are able to attend.

Narrow Your Results

At the top of the page there is a section that says “Narrow Your Results”.  This area has drop down menus with checkboxes next to each item. Go through each menu section and click any or all of the items that match what type of event you’re looking for. Then click the button that says “Submit” to view your filtered results on the calendar below.

Change Calendar View

On the top right side of the calendar there are two fields – one says ‘Events In” and has a field where you can select which month to view. Next to that is a field that says “View As”. The default setting is “month”, so you can view the events like a regular calendar. If you prefer, though, you can opt to view the events in a list instead. Or, click “map” to view a map that highlights where each event is located. Finally, you can view as “photo” to see all a list of the event titles and their associated images.
