Location: Law Offices of Curt Surls, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 500
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.  (We thank Curt for providing this space to us)

Our special topic will be a discussion by our own Doug Spoors on “Mixed Method Mediation – A Hybrid Approach to Conflict Resolution”.  Doug will present his concept that mediators need to adjust their approach and style based on the situation.

Look for his soon-to-be published book on the subject!

As always we will allow time for any other topics/issues you wish to share or that you want input from the group.

Parking option:  1) Parking in the 1500 building lot is hourly and a maximum of
$15.00.  2) Metered parking is available on the side street between the Marriott
Hotel and the 1500 building (It is free after 6:00 pm).  3) Park in the Bristol
Farms shopping center lot.  It is free but you may be towed if you do not
patronize any of the businesses in the shopping center.

Color Coding

All community events are shown on the calendar in blue, while all events that are for SCMA members only are shown on the calendar in yellow. This lets people see at a glance what type of event they are able to attend.

Narrow Your Results

At the top of the page there is a section that says “Narrow Your Results”.  This area has drop down menus with checkboxes next to each item. Go through each menu section and click any or all of the items that match what type of event you’re looking for. Then click the button that says “Submit” to view your filtered results on the calendar below.

Change Calendar View

On the top right side of the calendar there are two fields – one says ‘Events In” and has a field where you can select which month to view. Next to that is a field that says “View As”. The default setting is “month”, so you can view the events like a regular calendar. If you prefer, though, you can opt to view the events in a list instead. Or, click “map” to view a map that highlights where each event is located. Finally, you can view as “photo” to see all a list of the event titles and their associated images.
