Southern California Mediation Association
Annual Family Mediation Institute
Empowering Mediators into the 2020’s and Beyond
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2019
Request for Proposals
If you are interested in presenting a workshop or other program at the 2019 SCMA Family Mediation Institute please complete the following form and submit it by March 29, 2019 to have your workshop or presentation considered by the program committee. Proposals that will provide mediators with training and education regarding family law, financial issues, co-parenting, emotional support and divorce recovery are encouraged.
As this decade comes to an end, our culture is seeing many changes including the growth of non-traditional families and grey divorce, major alterations to the Tax Code and the stock market volatility leading to complications with our clients’ retirement and investment packages. In addition, today’s employers provide an ever-expanding range of employee compensation packages that require mediators to understand RSU’s, ISU’s, deferred comp and stock options. The focus on the need for self-care for mediators and their divorcing or separating clients are also hot topics. Divorcing couples and mediators need to grapple with ever changing needs and more complex issues as we enter the 2020’s. Accordingly, proposals that address these challenges and focus on the future role of mediation and the changing nature of the family in the next decade and beyond are strongly encouraged.
All selected Workshop presenters will be entitled to attend all institute events on Friday and Saturday for a discounted registration fee of $150.
