Dorit Cypis is an exhibiting artist whose social justice work includes mediating conflict, training and program design. She brings an artist’s perception to community building. Currently she is co-founder and educator, North East Youth Council, bridging relations between youth, community and police in partnership with NE LAPD; Lead Facilitator, Days of Dialogue-The Future of Policing, dialogue between communities and police across Los Angeles; dialogue design of Race Talk, for civic, cultural and education groups. Dorit is Faculty at Otis College of Art and Design. She writes on identity and social relations including “The Space of Conflict: Aesthetic Lessons for Mediators”, Handbook for Mediation, Routledge, 2017. Dorit is a founding member of and active with Mediators Beyond Borders International.
