Greetings, esteemed fellow SCMA Members – I am Jim Cameron in Encino, and I am asking for your support so that I can serve on the Board of Directors of our fine organization. I have had the privilege and pleasure of serving this year as the Leader of the San Fernando Valley Professional Development Group, as well as of attending many of our MCLE programs and other events over the past several years. I even had the honor of making my made-for-television debut (albeit a very short one) in SCMA’s public service announcement, filmed earlier this year by the Outreach Committee. Through all of these activities, I have come to appreciate the high personal and professional quality of our members. I would like to repay what our organization and its members have given me by serving on its Board.
I would bring to this job nearly four decades of experience in the legal community, as well as considerable experience on numerous Bar Association and non-profit boards, both in Southern California and in the Bay Area. I understand the spirit of generous volunteerism which must accompany service on any board of directors, and happily would commit to serving here with that energy and dedication if elected. I have a particular passion for education, training and public information, and would hope to lend my talents and energies to the Board’s activities in some or all of those areas. I believe that my colleagues on other boards would tell you that I am a strong collaborator and problem solver who nonetheless is not afraid to speak his mind if he perceives things are going in the wrong direction. I thank you for this opportunity to ask for your vote when ballots arrive in your inbox.
